First Grade Concert

Our concert night finally arrived! We all met in the music room ahead of time and tried to watch a video, but we were so excited that it was hard to sit still.
See the clock? It's 6:45 - only 15 minutes until showtime!

We had to wait until 6:55 for everyone to get there. The teachers had lots of last minute things to figure out, too.
We all wore our class t-shirts. Riley even had her hair curled!
At 6:55, Miss Barthman warmed us up by having us do a few exercises. It felt good to stand up! Then we lined up by classes and walked to the stage.

We tried to be really quiet while Mr. Koven talked. Our class made the black butterflies on the backdrop. Some of us felt like those butterflies were in our tummies!

Don't we look great in our bright t-shirts? It's time to begin!

Olivia introduced one of the first songs.

Nathan looks like quite a pro with the microphone. Riley had to talk, too.

Catie spoke up nice and loudly.

Molly played a tea kettle and Dylan played the tin can when we sang "Aiken Drum."

Here's Isaac all dressed up as "Aiken Drum." These are the parts to his costume that went with each verse of the song:

His hat was made of cheddar cheese, his shirt was made of gingerbread, his tie was made of tuna fish, his coat was made of pizza, his pants were made of raisin toast, his belt was made of string beans, and his shoes were made of tacos.

There were 8 verses to this song, and we had to remember them all, and in the right order, too! That took lots of practice!

Whew! It's all over! We waved and bowed at the very end when the audience clapped for us. The whole show was very fun, and we did an awesome job! Our teachers were sooooo proud of us!

If you would like to purchase a DVD of the whole concert, you can order one for $7.00. Get your orders in as soon as possible. Forms were sent home today with your child's Peek at the Week, or contact me at school.

Thanks, everyone, for coming to our concert!
