Welcome, 2011/2012 First Graders!

Hello, new students! I hope you had a wonderful summer and are all ready to begin an exciting school year in a brand new classroom! We will learn lots of new things this year, and have a lot of fun while we're at it. I will be posting pictures and comments to this blog about once a week, so check in often! The first day of school will be here soon, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Look for me on Tuesday!

For those of you who don't know me, here's some information: I am married to Chuck and have three grown-up children, Kyle , Corey, and Jenna. I also have three grandchildren, Phebe, Maddox, and Charlie. I have been teaching first grade in Cannon Falls for a long time, and I probably had some of your parents in my classroom in the "good old days." I love to read, ski, hike, sew, go to movies, play the piano and organ, and spend time with my family and friends.

Here are a few things I did on my summer vacation. Be prepared to tell me some things about your summer when we meet on the first day of school!

My family spent a week at a cabin on Whitefish Lake.

I did a lot of babysitting for my two grandsons, Maddox and Charlie. I tried to teach them to read, but since they're still pretty young, I just read them lots of books. :-)

I made a Star Wars quilt for Maddox - he loved it!

I watched a lot of soccer games. Maybe I saw YOU play, too!

I celebrated my birthday. I even made my own cake.

I hiked on the Superior Hiking Trail with my husband, Chuck.

I went fishing, boating, swimming, and kayaking.

I tried to meet President Obama, but I only managed to see his bus. Maybe some of you even got to shake his hand!

I also went to the State Fair, the first home Vikings game, a few Twins games, and I read lots of books! I can't wait to hear what YOU did!

See you all next week!
